The Donut Man has been around for over 40 years on the famous Route 66. They are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are best known for their fresh peach and strawberry stuffed donuts and foot long tiger tails.
The Donut Man has been featured on both The Food Network and The Cooking Channel. After a 9pm craving for something sweet, The Donut Man became the destination. Their Strawberry stuffed donut was simply delicious. Fresh strawberries and a light glaze that compliments the donut perfectly.
My favorite has to be their foot long tiger tail. The thought of it sitting on my kitchen counter was enough to wake me up the next day before 8a.m. to devour it with my morning coffee. The donut man will definitely be my go to destination when I’m craving donuts….especially when those cravings come late at night!
My day ended with a trip to try out Bruxie, a place with a little twist on your typical sandwich place. Bruxie uses a Belgian Waffle as the bread. I decided to go with a Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Waffle sandwich with a side of waffle cut fries. I also ordered an old fashioned cola to wash it down.
The fried chicken came between two huge pieces of waffle. The waffle was light and had a little crisp to it. It was the perfect balance between sweet and savory. The chicken was topped with chili honey which gave a subtle sweetness. You have the option to order maple syrup on the side, but I decided against it because I’m still getting over a donut hangover.
I wil definitely be back again to try the dessert side of their menu. The atmosphere was laidback and the staff was friendly to a newbie like myself. For more information on Bruxie and to find out if you have one in your area, check out www.bruxie.com.
Good AYCE sushi places are hard to find in my area. Either the fish isn’t fresh or the customer service is horrible. With that being said, I was happy when I moved across the street from Asahi Sushi in Corona. I have them on programmed into my phone so after a long day when I feel like I deserve a treat, it’s always nice to call in where they know my usual to go order. However, they are best known for their all you can eat. Price at around $27 including tax, you definitely get your money’s worth.
People from Orange County will make the drive and battle the 91 fwy just to eat at Sushi Asahi. Expect a wait if you plan on coming during peak hours on Friday & Saturday. It’s worth the wait though. Once you are seated, service is fast, their staff is friendly and their sushi is FRESH. By far, my favorite thing to order is just salmon. It literally melts in your mouth. Tuna, Seared Ono, and their Green Mussels are also some of my favorites.
With over 410 reviews on Yelp, Sushi Asahi is one popular place.
